Terms of sale
Last updated 17 October 2026
This policy is a draft and is being reviewed. The rights it describes under the law of South Africa apply regardless.
These terms apply when you buy on Lekker Market. Please read them with our returns policy and privacy notice.
1. Who you are dealing with
Lekker Market is an online marketplace operated by Marketplace. Products are sold by independent shops (“sellers”). The seller named on a product page is the supplier of that product. We run the marketplace, collect payment on the seller’s behalf, and issue invoices on the seller’s behalf.
2. Prices and product information
Prices are in South African rand and include VAT where the seller is VAT-registered. Delivery is shown separately before you pay. Sellers are responsible for describing their products accurately. If a product is materially different from its description, you may return it under our returns policy.
3. Placing an order
You can review your order, delivery details and total on the checkout page before you place it, and correct any mistakes. Your order is an offer to buy. It is accepted when your payment is confirmed. We hold the items for you for a limited time while you pay; if payment isn’t completed in that time, the order is cancelled and nothing is charged.
If a seller can’t supply an item after you’ve paid, we refund you in full for that item.
4. Payment
Payment is processed by our payment provider. We don’t see or store your full card details.
5. Delivery
Each seller sends their items separately by courier to the address you give. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please check that your address and phone number are correct; a failed delivery because of wrong details may mean re-delivery costs.
6. Cancellations, returns and warranties
Your rights to cancel within 7 days of delivery and to return faulty goods within 6 months are set out in our returns policy. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
7. Your account
Keep your password private. You are responsible for orders placed with your account unless it was used without your permission and you tell us promptly.
8. Complaints
Contact us through the contact details on this page once they’re published and we’ll work with the seller to resolve it. If we can’t, you may approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.
9. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the version on this page when you place an order applies to it. These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
